What is your marketing backup plan?

About the Show

We want to know what you do when your favourite marketing method is unreachable / down for maintenance or even bankrupt.

Do you have a backup plan? Have you got other methods which you use to reach the same audience?

With From the Couch we rely heavily on twitter and designfloat but when either of those are down we still have some methods which help us attract traffic.

Here are 3 of our backups:

  • Guest blogging
  • Blog news submissions
  • Voting systems such as DZone or ZABox

Whats your backup plan? Do you have one? Do you care? Have you ever thought of one?

Let us know :)

Thanks for the texture lovers shout out guys, i dont really have a backup, which means i probably should so thanks for making us think,

I totally rely on twitter now on my blog, but stumbleupon can bring in a fair amount of traffic and digg i just dont bother with, i hate trying to tell people to digg an article!

I also submit articles to "user link feeds" i have a list such as abduzeedo, tutsplus, etc

@Max - Loving the "texture lovers" site. Great design and great resources. Thanks for your hard work in putting that together.

@Marc and David - I don't really have a backup plan in place right now. I too depend heavily on twitter to make connections, but I am growing my contact list on skype. And on Friday, I found a great new way to talk to people, it's called TinyChat (tinychat.com/) and I must say I'm impressed. On Friday we must have had 15-20 people in a room, with about 8 people video chatting. --> I think that is something I will bring up in my next vlog.

And for the audio, I think the whole show sounded better than the last little clip. I was a little unsure if you meant that you hadn't used your new mic during the whole show or not. But I think the last clip sounded like you were further away in a tunnel or something.

Great show. Cheers!

lol @Kyle - I can guess that the session you joined was created by twitter.com/darylsws (were Aaroni and Spooner present? If so that's the one!) because he wanted some help with HashOne, so he asked me to join his chat session (which just had myself and him in).

And what happened was; it automatically tweeted that I was chatting (without me knowing, tsk tsk), then Dave joined and his followers saw he was on, etc. etc. I was wondering why people started joining the session and eventually (for those who don't know) the room was 40 strong. All very confusing with the sound delays, but once everyone gave each other a chance to speak it was brilliant. What a great example of virility.

We'd also like to talk about it in our next show, because as you said, it's impressive.

@Max - Its because your new site rocks the house man!

@Kyle - Dude that chat session was insane, it eventually calmed down so people could actually talk. I think there is huge potential for From the Couch to have a live show every Friday. We are investigating :)

@Rahman - Thanks for taking the time to comment

@Max Amazing site man! just check it out and it's really great. A must! Thanks for creating it.

@David&Marc: Great subject. About the sound, the first part was much better than that last tryout. Hope that's the one with the mic

Saludos

Crap I don't have a back up plan...

@Max: Great job on the new site! The design is insane, love it!

@Marc and David: The sound of your voices during the show sounded like something was blocking your voices, so the tone sounded deeper (you know how when someone is talking in the next room their voice always sounds deeper...), where as the sound on the last little clip sounded like there was a slight echo, but it made your voices sound clear and maybe a bit higher? It's hard to explain; but there is a difference. :P

Cheers!
