Hey guys. I like the new video quality but I hear a slight buzz? Maybe that was some electronic on in the background. Cheers to 2009!

@Jason - Thanks for the comments, the location is very much a work in progress. We are thinking of moving the white board to another location and then using some simple lamps for lighting.
Hopefully it will improve as we go along ;)

The new camera is definitely a great upgrade for your show, and it seems like the audio is better with the new cam as well. The audio is a bit "echoey," but once you guys get some lav mics or some other type of external mic then that shouldn't be an issue. I'm looking forward to your theme reviews, it will save a lot of time for those of us who are too lazy to go out and find the "perfect" theme. Keep up the great work!
David Perel 02 Jan, 2009 17:40:11 PM
@Matt - Slight hum is definitely the computers!!
@Jeff - Thanks dude, the echo is from the room that we shoot From the Couch in. We hope that one day, when we finally have some proper mic's, the echo will be gone.

Sound is better, but still not 100%. Not really sure exactly what it is, but I can hear a little feedback in the background. Other than that, quality is much better.

Oh, forgot to give my opinion on the location.
Anyway, I agree with Jason. I think the location is a bit too dark.

The camera quality is really cool guys. :) Taking into consideration the onboard microphone, the sound is cool as well. The echo could be lessened by some foam or padding up against the walls. This might, however, make the space look a tad strange. :P
For the time being, you could always rent a microphone or two to test out. This way, you know what microphones to invest in, as well as what types of microphones would work best for what you require.
Theme reviews sound cool. Are you planning on reviewing custom themes as well as themes retailed on premium theme services?
Cheers guys, all the best for 2009, Matt.

Hey fellas - just happened across your podcast, thanks to a tweet I happened to catch as I glanced at my tweet stream! Yep, audio sounded better before - the lighting was better in the previous location too. I'm not sure if the humming noise comes from the new location, or the machines, but you might want to try different positions of the camera, and filming in the old spot to double check! The first location also looked brighter, and like it had more natural light - perhaps you can use mirrors, or reflective surfaces to get more natural light in this new spot? Or pick a spot with more natural lighting? Look forward to seeing what more exciting developments the new year brings from you all! @magitam

Nice camera guys, sound is alot better in my opinion, but location needs more light... i was laughing at the bloopers video just now, some theme reviews would be good and a break down of what features they have would be great. looking forward to some more videos in 2009, Have a good 2009.
David Perel 03 Jan, 2009 14:25:53 PM
@matt, @matt, @farhan, @max - Thanks for the feedback guys. We have realised that the lighting, when viewing it with the camera, compared to when it is uploaded, is quite a bit different.
We still want to use the new location but with some lamps to light up our melons. I think the new location will be better long term. So we will see for the next two or three episodes, if it is still bad then we will probably go back to the original.
As for the humming... that must be my bro's computer which is right next to the camera. We will probably change that... move the computer to the other side of the room and then put some padding around it.
We cannot wait for next week when we will tackle From the Couch with full force!

Perhaps throw something interesting up onto the White Board, I'm not quite sure what, but you could perhaps list a few tips of pointers, URLs or whatever and have the camera be able to focus on those..?
Wezz 05 Jan, 2009 13:57:02 PM
Hey guys, first time comm... you know the rest :).
Yeah as Chris mentioned throw something up on the whiteboard - I'm thinking more along the lines of a design. Maybe something like a quick marker drawing of some famous painting (or anything) for every episode and then don't mention anything about it in the video.
David Perel 05 Jan, 2009 16:57:24 PM
@Wezz - Thanks dude, the problem with having items on the white board is that they dont show up on video. There was in fact a ton of stuff on the board during the show but with the glare etc it is being picked up :(
Chris M 06 Jan, 2009 01:59:57 AM
What about putting some material over the white board just for video shoots?

Jason Adriaan 02 Jan, 2009 17:28:54 PM
Hey guys. Happy New Year.
Nice camera, I liked how you could show the difference in picture quality and sound quality from cellphone to camera. Money well spent.
I can't say I am a fan of the location though. It needs lighting I guess, and if you add more lights you might want to get rid of the whiteboard considering reflection onto the camera.
Otherwise good luck with 2009. Will keep my eyes peeled for the new obox-design design :P
