About the Show

We first got into the blogging world with our website blog 'We Are not Freelancers'. The site is a combo of the 'Ten Pixel Method' and hand drawn characters and letters. A lot of people who we have met say they wish they could create something simila,r but will not because they can't draw.

We say anyone can draw if you use a simple technique.

David gives you a quick lesson on how to create a hand drawn website using the 'don't lift the pencil' technique.

Thanks for the look into the workflow guys! I myself suck at drawing, and would have never thought of using tracer paper and scanning it.I'll have to give it a try! Thanks guys!

It's a fine technique if you're in a rush. Another way of doing this which I prefer is to set the black line art layer's blend mode to multiply. and then do your colouring on a layer beneath.

2 advantages to this- none of the black line art gets affected by the sometime s clumsy paint bucket tool and you have a more editable file incase you want to make changes to it in the future.

@Will - I wouldn't say its a rush technique, it depends on the effect you want to create.

well, it's just the paint bucket can often leave lighter edges around the inside of the line art. and upping the tolerance destroys part of the line, albeit by a TINY amount, but enough to annoy me :)

Each to his own I suppose!

I really like this video!

I'm not a really good drawer. (I've never really draw anything... LOL)

I'm now starting to try to draw the header for my new portfolio... ^^
