I swear by WAMP - using it with XP works fine - you just have to make sure your skype isnt conflicting and then apache starts up without the port conflict. Thats the only problem I found :)
Then to make it all work you just have to go through localhost...
Its been nice and fast for me too - didnt need anything else. Awesome for developing themes for Wordpress locally :)

You may want to consider XAMPP for Windows too, if you have not already. In my opinion far more configurable than WAMP, with better security management though I doubt you'd be using it outside of a development environment anyhow.

Sounds exciting guys, cant wait till your pumping out some slick wordpress themes.

Sweet, Wordpress themes will be a nice addition. :)
For local testing, I would recommend XAMPP. WAMP has brought me many issues in the past, and XAMPP made setting up a development server easy. Good luck on the WP themes.

Nice to see you guys trying something new. I've also recently started messing around with Wordpress and it's actual not half bad(I'm a joomla fan)
Oh and I use XAMPP for localhost testing with XP. Works like a bomb. Look forward to seeing your first theme.

Thanks everyone for the comments!
@Mare - We can't wait to show off her skills!
@Meredith - Lol, we don't have enough budget for Macs :( Although... as soon as I know we can upgrade, I will be the first at the Apple Store!
@Rob - WAMP Seems to be serving Marc Ok at the moment but...
@eL, @Philip, @Ash - ...we will try XAMPP too. I am looking forward to hearing from Marc if there is any difference. Thanks for the tips guys.
@Max - We can't wait either dude.

@Everyone - Thanks for all the comments regarding XAMPP server. I have got it working locally on my Laptop on Windows XP, using WAMP Server.
It's Windows Server 2000 running with IIS on our local server that I have the issue with. Is there no issue running Apache and IIS simultaneously?
All the tips are much appreciated
