About the Show
We need to stop looking at our computer screens in order to gain inspiration. I mentioned it briefly in the Chat Creative discussion recently and Aaron Irizarry also picked up on it, but I just felt that I needed to drive the point home.
Marc also gives you a tip about TimThumb and HostGator.
Finally we ask you a question about Google's new operating system.

This weekend was a perfect example for finding inspiration away from the computer.
Getting to visit @aaroni268 and @iamgarth out in So-Cal was a huge motivator for me. On Saturday, I got the chance to go to the beach and do some people watching (which I love to do) and just relax. Then we went to the #collekt meetup and I was able to connect with even more people that I've met recently on tinychat.
This mini vacation was exactly what I needed to recharge from all the hustling I did last week getting Chat Creative started. But now I am even more excited about what the future hold for Chat Creative, and just connecting with others in general.

Haha, nice mention about the Carsonified design, as soon as I saw I had the same thought. I think it's so true that some designers get too wrapped up in making something look part of a trend, rather than making something that just fits for that project. Keep an eye on trends, don't become obsessed by them.
Welcome back to Nat also :)

I agree...by focusing too much on what the latest trends are, it is like putting an experation date on your work (especially logos). But, by building on design ideas and doing something different and unique, you appear to be truly innovative and helps you stand out as an imaginative player in the design field.

Woah David, you are right on with the design community needing to think outside "the box".
"web design" in general is starting to be a bit stale. I don't see much innovation at all, and when I see people have launched a new design of their site, or what have you, I'm underwhelmed. I can't say that I have the design ability to actually innovate, but there are very well known and well respected web designers who are launching "new" designs which are, in my opinion, crap. Not because they don't look great, but because they aren't new at all.

Great video you guys! I totally agree with you 100% - it is so hard to look outside of the web for new ideas but it is something we all need to work on. Again great video!

Hey boys,
Great vid today. Though a writer and not a web designer by profession, the principals you discuss remain the same. I often find myself driving in the car aimlessly, if only to free my mind its usual thought processes when I'm sitting behind a computer screen. For me, that time is when new, fresh ideas dawn.
That said, finding the right inspiration has been a particular struggle for me today. It's almost like I have a 'creativity hangover' after launching my website this past weekend and pushing hard to get a bunch of content finished for it. Now I need to step back, look at the big picture, and see where to take it from here.

Design - yea all good lol
Google OS - I have to agree that Google are probably the only guys who could threaten MS's dominace. Linux is too fragmented, and is far too scaree for normal users. Plus google pretty much own the interweb, they have access to a mass market - offerening a free system that welcomes in developers to help with the system. For the millions of netbooks being sold now, imagine that with the Chrome OS... They could make a nasty dent...
As for Chrome OS on standard machines - Im up for anything, although I am an XP user, and there would really have to be something big to shift me from it...
Who knows - but its interesting for sure.

Fantastic video as per usual. Inspiration is away from the computer and its crucial people with total work burn out realise this.

Great video, agree on the Google OS, still miles away..Also agree that looking outside the medium helps cultivate new concepts and breed innovation.

It's nice to hear someone who is positive on Microsoft. I also have no problems with vista, but will upgrade to 7 once it's released.

great vid guys...
As far as inspiration... Y.u know I agree whole-heartedly.
As far as google creating an os... i think all the hype is simply because google probably is the only one who would be able to make a dent in microsoft or apple's share of the market. We will see...
Keep doing what your doing
