He might be popular in terms of viewers, but I don't think the content is worth noting.
I think its unfortunate this site has become so popular. Isn't the whole idea behind being a great blogger to provide intelligent, useful content? Don't you gain followers by giving them something they can't find anywhere else?
This type of content (under category "no thought involved") can be found everywhere.
I'd like to see something new and creative, then hear it being talked up.
Sorry guys, I really do enjoy all of your other post.

Great interview chaps (besides blocking swear words, what's up with that?). Seth has created his own niche and is pounding it, and you have to take people like Rachel's comments with a pinch of salt. There are no rules to blogging and making money online. If there were, it would be a damn boring internet.

Rachael, your first statement is a double negative! This is probably why YOU need intelligent content! For those of us who already have good grammar Seth's site is great! The idea behind some great blogs is to provide a cure for office boredom, an escape, even if it is only a fleeting moment, and Seth's content hits that nail right on the head. Its a wonderful place to go to at times during the work day. Also the reason he won 6 awards is because the content on his site one CAN'T find just anywhere. Do you only watch documentaries when you're at home?

@Rachel - Anyone who has the amount of dedicated readers as Seth does, is clearly doing something right. Whether it is porn or comedy there will always people who enjoy it.
Liking a blog or not is subjective and I don't agree that a 'good/great' blog has to be thought provoking. It can be anything it wants to be as long as its pleasing someone. The fact that he polarizes opinion is already a sign of a great blog.
Even though his content may be found everywhere (I am still looking) Seth has a way of adding a twist to it which, South African's especially, can appreciate.
I highly suggest that anyone who plans on creating a successful blog takes some notes from the interview because you don't get 30,000 readers by luck.

Nice interview - Seth is always a good laugh
Tip - Hashtags were created before Twitter had search - so back then Hash tags was how you could index tweets under a particular keyword. When Twitter launched real time search (search.twitter.com) Hashtags became obsolete. I guess people still do it to show that they are old school
FTC still on the fore front.. keep it up

@ Rachel --I think the problem is also that people expect too much from a site like 2oceansvibe, and by this I mainly mean new readers of the blog.
When you see "6 time blog award winner" for 2009", I assume people are going to think that everyday is just going to be a stream of awesome posts. It's extremely difficult to constantly post quality content, and Seth fills in with little odds and ends.
But to me it's worth it when all these little pieces combine and something like the video response to Randall is produced. It's those pieces that makes 2oceans what it is, not the little mentions of celebrity stuff.
You must remember that blog writers are publishing every day, whereas say a magazine writer has an entire month to produce a few articles. It's very difficult to keep the entertainment at 100% every day of the year...It's basically like me asking you to perform outstandingly at your job the entire year. Everyone has off days. And not everyone can be funny every day.
But when 2oceans is good...dammit it's good.

You guys make me wanna cry.
Just come here.
Just come here now and give me hug.
[stops, bites lip to hold back the tears.]
[but can't]
[collapses]
[dionne warwick's "heartbreaker" kicks in as credits roll]
I got to say it and it's hard for me You got me cryin' Like I thought I would never be Love is believin' but you let me down How can I love you when you ain't around And I
Get to the morning and you never call Love should be everything or not at all And it don't matter what ever you do I made a life out of lovin' you
Only to find any dream that I follow is dying I'm cryin' in the rain I could be searchin' my world For a love everlasting Feeling no pain When will we meet again
Why do you have to be a heartbreaker Is it a lesson that I never knew Gotta get out of the spell that I'm under My love for you
Why do you have to be a heartbreaker When I was bein' what you want me to be Suddenly everything I ever wanted Has passed me by This world may end Not you and I
My love is stronger than the universe My soul is cryin' for you And that can not be reversed You made the rules and you could not see You made a life out of hurtin' me
Out of my mind I am held by the power of you love Tell me when do we try Or should we say goodbye
Why do you have to be a heartbreaker When I was bein' what you want me to be Suddenly everything I ever wanted Has passed me by
Oh, why do you have to be a heartbreaker Is it a lesson that I never knew Suddenly everything I ever wanted My love for you, oh
Why do you have to be a heartbreaker When I was bein' what you want me to be Suddenly everything I ever wanted Has passed me by

@Seth - Dude you do know that only geeks reply to blog comments at this time of night?
Seth Rotherham 06 May, 2009 20:43:10 PM
Using my iphone.
In Vegas.
It's lunch time.
(there's a phrase I coined for moments like these - I call it a "paradigm shift")
Sean 06 May, 2009 20:43:30 PM
What? I was just busy trashing my hotel room before leaving for Brazil where my girlfriend is shooting her new lingerie catalogue
