Sweet tut man! Even the simplest things in a design require much attention, and that's what I love about this site. Well that and the videos. ;)

@Meredith - My dear, you have to experience it to understand it. ;)

Solid workflow! I would add that other method for the shadow is to use 10-20px feather-fill (instead of blur/filter).

Great Video David! Thanks for walking us through the process of how you were able to create such nice ribbons for the site. Thanks so much!
BTW....we love the new cleaner look of the site!

Nice! Bummed that i don't have Fireworks. Guess i'll have to invest in that. Hope to see more tutorials from you man. The result is fantastic. :)

Thanks everyone, super glad you found it useful :)
@Mko - The reason I use the filter is so that I can adjust it if I change my mind on the blur ratio.

I could watch your tutorials all day. You make it look so easy! This one made me really sad that I don't have Fireworks.
Why are people so against Fireworks anyway?
David Perel 27 May, 2009 22:11:00 PM
@abbyroadie4 - No idea what their problem with Fireworks is... I won't use anything else for web design....

I use Fireworks at least 20 times a day. I would marry it if I could. It's too bad I kind of suck at using it but this was an awesome tutorial and I could probably pull it off now.

Awesome as usual! I really need to start using Fireworks for my design.

Helpful video tutorial. The technique shown is good looking one and can be easily made by other free graphic software too, like GIMP :)

Brilliant Dudes! I always was wondering how that wraparound effect was created. This video totally simplified it.

Wow David. Thank you for enlightening us to your shiny, blingified design skills :)
I still don't understand what good fireworks is though. Maybe you could enlighten me to that? :P
