It would've been useful to see what you are actually talking about; it is a bit awkward watching you sit there trying to describe motion graphic or design you saw you espn. In fact I was expecting one to show up on the screen as a reference. Kind of useless in my opinion.

Nice post guys, I have found myself doing this as well over the last few months, although I've not upgraded to digital TV yet so stuck with the 5 terrestrial channels served up in the UK! This can mean inspiration is a bit thin sometimes!
As for taking it further, this is a very valid point and the need cannot be stressed enough. If you see something you like and just transplant it into your page, that's not inspiration, that's just plain copying. Which is just plain daft.
When starting a project, I might find a few relevant bits of inspiration on differing sites and try and bring them together in a cohesive way with my own special twist. Just grabbing some bits and slapping them together, hoping they work, is not going to get you a site that grabs peoples attention in the right way.
At least, I don't think so anyhow!
