About the Show
So here it is, the first attempt at a new look From the Couch.
In this show you see David wireframe a property site and also give you insight into how to break the mould with new layouts.
We also discuss our decision to cut the prices of our themes and fight over Dual and Quad Core.
The show is completely different to how we used to film and produce so things will inevitably need tweeking but we hope you enjoy it!
P.S We released a new Theme today and cut our prices! Check it out: New Theme and a Price Cut!

I really enjoyed this vid guys! It's very interesting to see how you go about your day and I liked the idea of using "real" magazines to base a web design on. This gave me some ideas of how I could go about creating unique layouts.
The new direction in which FtC is heading looks very promising! Can't wait for future shows!
Thanks :)

I like the new layout of the show, keep up the great work.
also to re-sound what @Nickolai said using a Magazine for layout inspiration is a great idea, I may just have to try that out my self soon

Another great video guys! It's awesome to see the framework process.
Looking forward to see the new wordpress theme. I'm in the process of redesigning my site.
Thanks, Quan

Very nice :) great video. I like the template sketch you made. Looking forward on your next vid :)

I like the new avenue the screencasts are taking. I think you can still implement the same kinds of content and 'rants' that you were doing before but wrapped in a more useful (imo) context. As an up and coming web designer/developer it is really helpdul to learn from the workflow of others.
ps. maybe a quad core would help with the video exporting speed ;)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I tweeted this earlier because this is what it feels like:
"I feel like when Tiger Woods changed his swing. Takes a while to get right but when its right.... yes please"
We may end up losing quite a few viewers but gain even more in the future, it is a risk we have to take in order to progress. Lets see what happens!!

@David Not every one likes change to start with. And you need to sell it to people to convert them, including me, I am still not liking it 100% but i am 100% sure you will get better, like you already did.
2 steps forwards and 1 back haha get there in the end lol

Your site is very easy in terms of expression and open. I think everyone who enters your site is very gratifying, but also sharing a very nice opportunity to give ...

Hey great work guys, I totally love the new style. It's good to see how you go about your work process, and it's nice to see that it's close to what I do. Also get the Quad Core, you might as well!

Nice new vid! I like the new direction, the following over your shoulders for the day sort of thing.
It was great getting to see the designing process in the tracing paper and the sketching sessions! Gave me ideas to try in my own work.
I'm definitely enjoying the new spin on FtC, and I'm looking forward to more! I'm sure you guys will figure out how the new format fits your content and presentation styles very quickly. Keep it up!

This new format is much better! more entertaining and educational too! Keep up the good work!
BTW i have to ask this question: have you guys considered a Mac?? even old macs allows me to do video exporting and still work on websites!
Ben Ford 29 Jul, 2009 07:37:12 AM
The new format is way better than the old one. I havn't been around long, but I'm certainly sticking around for this.
Keep it up!!

@Css - Unfortunately that is not in our control. Maybe the site which hosts our videos, Viddler, may be having a bad day :P

Looks like things are heating up, I would like to propose an idea for you next vid, like a evolution website creation: from sketch to final product. I`ve done the same thing on my company and my clients were amazed. Gl and tell me what you think about this.
driftingcreatives 29 Jul, 2009 18:37:24 PM
Love the magazine idea for layouts. It was also very entertaining to watch you create the wire frame. Looking forward to more.
Lucas 29 Jul, 2009 19:50:05 PM
Hey guys, I really liked this new style. The magazine layout idea was awsome.
PS: I really think you guys should get a Quad Core.I had a Dual Core before and now got a Quad Core, there's a really nice difference on the processing speed. (:
Jason Adriaan 01 Aug, 2009 15:30:17 PM
Wow! I'm blown away. I like the new style of doing the show alot!
I'm sure it's alot easier to get content if your just filming your daily lives right?
Keep it up

I love your comment about using PC's! I also use a PC for my work. When it comes down to it they both use the same parts! Great to see other designers using them! Great show! Amanda :)
lindsay 11 Sep, 2009 20:52:06 PM
WOW.. i thought i was the only web designer that drew out websites before building them.. NO other tutorial that I have read or class that I had taken explained the importance of old fashioned DRAWING.. i love it
