What do you think about using Twitter as a real time journal of some activities? If I am doing something complicated I would want to log what I did for future reference (say steps i took in installing some fancy linux program). In a text document the logs seem dead, useless and forgotten. But if someone uses twitter search instead or even google for some of the problems I experienced in my adventures, then it is potentially useful to more people.

I don't know if this is a valid way of thinking since i only have 3 followers with interests similar to my "journal".

That last use -- documenting a troubleshooting steps is a fabulous idea!

I've been getting a lot of flack lately from friends. They don't quite get how it can be more than tweeting about what you eat. But maybe that's because that's all they would tweet about??

anyways... another rock top video.

@alex I've been using twitter in a similar way. I've created a work account (b.c they don't want us on our personal blogs) and I just keep a log of what I'm working on and any problems I come across. #'ing them appropriately.

It would be cool if we could work out a way of #'tagging trouble shooting steps so that we can all tap into each others' expertise and experience....

@Erich Viedge >>It would be cool if we could work out a way of #'tagging

Yes that would be useful. I am working at condensing my troubleshooting steps from my twitter into the new blog, powered by HashOne theme ;) (hopefully finish it today), as a summary and its very difficult to pick out the working steps from failed ones (i post those too so i know what not to do again, plus i often found by reading other guides that what failed for others worked very well for me) as well as distinguishing them from my miscellaneous entries. This will also be useful for searching ""tap into each others' expertise"" so that results are more relevant

I guess its a matter of thinking up some convention. I already see a number of conventions floating around in twitter conversations so the concept is not unproven. Only problem, is that the tag will use up more characters and putting that long command line output in 140 characters is already a pain and describing what to do from there is already a pain.

Sorry guys for using your comment area for our conversation ^_^"

Great video, I wish you had this a while back to convince me to start tweeting!

On a side note, I just noticed your site traffic has almost quadrupled in the last month, way to go!
